- Charaka Samhita
Ayurveda is a way of life. Ayurveda- Ayus (life) and Veda (knowledge or wisdom) is often translated as the Science of Life. This Integrative healing science has been practiced throughout India and is considered to be the oldest form of medicine in the world.
Ayurveda offers a holistic approach to healing and living in harmony with the body, mind, senses, soul, and the natural cycles of life. Operating from the philosophy that everything is connected, Ayurveda believes we can achieve healing, health, and vitality when we learn to coexist with our internal and external environments. Each one of us has a unique constitutional make-up, which offers tools to navigate pathways to nourish and balance the mind and the body. Ayurveda concentrates first on making changes to diet, behavior, daily routine, and lifestyle. Depending on ones constitution, alternative recommendations may be offered such as herbal massage, medicinal herbs, mantra, specific yoga postures, and various detoxifying and rejuvenating therapies.
